Juventus close to another title

Juventus have won the derby with AC Milan 1-0 and now are closer to a new title. The 33rd round of Serie A put Juventus and Milan face to face.

Napoli were hoping for a Milan victory which would reduce the gap between them and the leaders. Many experts were convinced that Milan will obtain a positive result because of the good form and also because a victory would bring them closer to the second place.

The game was very balanced but those from Juventus managed to mobilize better and to win the three points. Vidal opened the score in the 57th minute and this proved to be the final score. After this game Milan have only mathematical chances for the second place occupied by Napoli.

With only five games left, Juventus are top of the Serie A standings with 77 points, 11 points ahead Napoli and 18 ahead Milan. It was a season fully dominated by Juventus who have lost only four games. Milan will have to fight for the 3rd place with Fiorentina.

Inter losing ground on Champions League run

Inter Milan have lost the home game 3 – 4  against Atalanta last Sunday and failed to profit from the wrong steps made by AC Milan and Fiorentina.

Although they lead by 3 – 1,  Inter failed to keep the result and have lost the match. The match started well for Inter, and at half time they were in advantage  1-0 after Rocchi’s goal. In the 56th minute, Giacomo Bonaventura manages to bring the equalized for Atalanta but Inter demonstrated that they are a great team and  scored again  after only one minute through Alvarez’s goal.

Same Alvarez scored again in the 61st minute and Inter’s players already saw the 3 points in the pocket. But that’s why football is so nice, because is full of surprises.

Atalanta didn’t agreed with the score and in the 65th minute German Denis reduce the difference. After this goal Atalanta fans were hoping for a positive result and in 71st minute the same German Denis scored the equalizer goal, and then the winner goal in 77th minute when he completed his hat-trick.

Although Inter were close to save something from this match but Ranocchia missed a great opportunity and the match ended 4-3 to Atalanta. Inter failed to get closer to AC Milan, which are on 3rd place.

At the moment Inter are on 6th place in the table with little chances to catch a Champions League place, and even more they are in danger of missing even Europa League.

Juventus won the derby with Inter Milan

Juventus are getting closer and closer to a second successive Scudetto after 2-1 victory against Inter Milano last Saturday. Inter have won the first derby with 3-1 at Juventus Stadium and now those from Turin wanted to win this match at any cost even if the match was played on Giuseppe Meazza.
Even if this game was prior to Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, coach Antonio Conte declared before the game that he will not rest any first team player even if they have 9 point ahead Napoli in Serie A. For Juventus the most important thing was to win the derby with Inter.
The match did not started too well for Inter as Fabio Quagliarela managed to score only 3 minutes from the start of the game with great shoot from outside the box.This was the half time score.
After a first half dominated largely by Juventus, Inter’s players came more focused in the second half and in the 54th minute Palacio scored the  equaliser after a rapid combination with Antonio Cassano. Conte said before the game that a draw is not helpful to any of the teams, so Juventus players risked more and in the 60th minute Matri scored the second goal for Juventus, which proved to be the winning goal .
After this match Juventus retain the 9 points ahead of Napoli and it’s hard to believe that they can lose  the title in the 8 remaining stages, while Inter Milan sinking lower and lower in the Serie A and moving away from the main objective  which is 3rd place. Inter Milan are in 6th place with 47 points at 10 points behind 3rd place.

Will Jovetic leave Fiorentina at the end of the season?

Stevan Jovetic is close to leave Fiorentina after five successful years. Jovetic is wanted by two Premier League giants, Arsenal and Manchester City.
Last season Fiorentina boss managed to keep his star for one more season but now it will be very hard to refuse the offers for the Montenegrin striker. The interest from Manchester City is not new, but it seems that Arsene Wenger wants him too and he will try to bring him to Arsenal.
Last summer, Arsenal transferred Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, hoping that they will fill the void left by the departure of Robin Van Persie to Manchester United but the two failed to live up to expectations.
After being  knockout from  Champions League  and after a modest run in Premier League  where they have small chances to finish 4th, Wenger is determinated to make major changes in his squad and Jovetic is  on top of the list of acquisitions.
Even if the Montenegrin defender Stefan Savic, his former teammate, advised him to choose Manchester City, Jovetic is apparently decided to choose Arsenal. Jovetic said recently that Arsenal is one of the best teams in Europe and  he would like to play there after he will leave Fiorentina, but at this moment he is thinking only at the objectives of his current team.
Fiorentina are hoping to finish on 3rd place which will give them the chance of playing in Champions League next season. The Italians are 4th in Serie A standings at 3 points behind AC Milan who are on 3rd.

Milan back on title race after stars exodus

After a disastrous start of the season, AC Milan are playing better and better. Last summer, players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic,Alexandre Pato,Thiago Silva and Antonio Cassano left AC Milan and they were replaced with very promising young players.
One of them is M’Baye Niang, a young Frenchman very appreciated lately. Even if he is just getting started with this career, the 18 years old teenager has great thoughts.
Although he admitted that he has a lot of work to achieved that level,he said”my objective is to become better than Henry”. M’Baye Niang spoke also about Barcelona’s match in Champions League and said that he was unlucky to hit the bar after getting one on one with goalkeeper and that he want to forget that match as soon as possible.
At the beginning of the season Milan were criticized because they sell best players Massimiliano Allegri demonstrated his skills and slowly made forgotten the stars departures with latest results.
At this moment AC Milan are on 3rd position in the table with 54th points, 12 points behind the leaders Juventus.

Inter are interesting in apointing Lucescu

With the results far below expectations this season’s Inter,it seems that Inter’s boss Massimo Moratti expect the end of the season to make a few changes at the club.
One of them is replacing the coach Andrea Stramaccioni which seems to have lost the support from management after recent results.
Although Stramaccioni claims that his fate will be decided by a possible elimination from Europa League where Tottenham Hotspur won the first leg with 3-0 and Inter is almost eliminated,it seems that Moratti already did a list of possible replacements for the 37 years old Italian coach .
This list contains names like Walter Mazzarri, Diego Simeone, Mircea Lucescu, Laurent Blanc and Sinisa Mihajlovic.
After Diego Simeone has recently extended his contract with Atletico Madrid and Walter Mazzarri is  loved by fans of Napoli, it seems that the main favorite for the post of  Inter’s coach is Mircea Lucescu.
The Romanian coach, who has achieved extraordinary results with the teams he has coached including a UEFA Cup won in 2009 with Sahtior Donetk,would prefer a move to Inter Milan.This would be a great comeback, as he was coaching Inter in 1998-1999 season.
Lucescu has coached Corvinus of Hunedoara, Dinamo Bucharest, Pisa Calcio, Brescia, Reggina, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Galatasaray, Besiktas, Shakhtar Donetsk but also Romanian National Team.
At the moment Inter are in 5th place with 47 points, 15 points behind the leader Juventus Torino.

Barcelona – Milan preview

Even if in the first leg AC Milan have managed to win  with 2-0 most experts consider that Barcelona are the favorites to qualify in the quarterfinal of Champions League.
In the first leg, even playing at home, those from Milan were seen as outsiders, but Milan’s players were able to block all Barcelona actions and at the end of the game to obtain a surprising result.
After this result  Milan’s players have more courage and at Camp Nou they will try to take the battle in their favour and eliminate Barcelona, the big favourite to win this competitions.
Milan’s players are fearing that the atmosphere from Camp Nou will push barcelona’s players to the victory .
Massimo Ambrosini has warned his coleagues to be cautious and remembered them that last season they won the first leg 4-0 at San Siro against Arsenal and even so they were close to be eliminated after Arsenal won 3-0 in the second leg.
Milan will not count on Balloteli who is not eligible to play for The Rossoneri in this  Champions League season and Pazzini who is injured.
AC Milan won the first leg with 2-0 thanks to the goals scored by Boateng in the 55th minute and Muntari in the 79th minute.

Juventus have qualified into the Champions League quarter finals

Juventus go through the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League after a comfortable 2-0 win  at the Juventus Stadium against Celtic Glasgow.
After 3-0 first leg win against at Celtic, the qualification was almost played and coach Antonio Conte has rested a few first team players. Even so Juventus players were able to practice an extraordinary counter attack game and in the end to enjoy the qualification in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
Celtic players were very confident that they can produce the surprise but this lasted until the 24th minute when Alessandro Matri managed to score the first goal for Juventus. In the 65th minute Fabio Quagliarella raised the score to 2-0 and Juventus succeeded to pass in the quarterfinals after a 5-0  aggregate win.
Those from Celtic tried a comeback from 3-0 in first leg but Antonio Conte’s men have not given them any chances. After the group games and this two games against Celtic, Juventus have demonstrated that they are one of the main favorites to win  the trophy.
Real Madrid, PSG and Borussia Dortmund are the other teams that have qualified until now as there are still games to be played. Next week will find the other  four  teams which will through. The draw for the quarterfinals will take place in Nyon on March 15.

Superb comeback from Inter against Catania

Before this game Inter were fifth in the Serie A standings, just one point behind fourth-placed AC Milan and three adrift of Lazio and a bad result against Catania could have been decisive to fulfill the main objective, 3rd place which leads to qualification for the Champions League.
Although Inter had plenty of players unavailable for this match,  Andrea Stramaccioni was hoping for a victory which would take them closer to 3rd place in the table.
Inter started the game very poorly and in the 19th minute Catania had already 2-0. Gonzalo Bergessio opened the scoring in the 7th minute after an  error from Inter’s defensive and in the 19th minute Giovanni Marchese increased  the score to 2-0.
After a first half dominated by Catania,Stramaccioni was very inspired and replace Rocchi and Kuzmanovic with  Rodrigo Palacio and Dejan Stankovic. They  had totally changed the  team and only 7 minutes after halftime Ricardo Alvarez scored. After this goal Inter forced the equalizing and in the 70th minute Palacio scored the equalizer.
When no one expected, Palacio managed to bring Inter’s victory in 93th minute and sent the Inter’s fans into delirium.
After this superb comeback Inter remains in the race for the Champions League place and they will travel to London for the game against Tottenham Hotspur in Europa League.

John Carew failed Inter medical

After Diego Milito’s injury, which will keep him away from the field for the rest of the season, Inter are desperate to bring a striker to supply the Argentinian striker. The Nerazzurri linked first with  Angelos Charisteas, Mido, Emile Mpenza and Ruud van Nistelrooy but after all they turned their attention to John Carew.
The former Norway international was very excited about a possible collaboration, as Inter are one of the best teams in Europe. Carew previously played in Serie A on loan at Roma in 2003-04, when he scored seven goals in 20 league appearances and a return to Serie A would be great for him.
Andrea Stramaccioni sayed that the player would be given a trial before a decision will be made on whether to sign him or not. After few days Inter have confirmed that the Norwegian striker has failed the medical and he will not be joining the club.
Carew has previously played for Aston Villa, Stoke City, Olympique Lyonnais, Valencia and Rosenborg and has been without a club ever since he left West Ham in the summer of 2012.
