After Walter Mazzarri left the club Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli’s president was very anxious to find a new coach with which to attack the title in the next Serie A season.
After some discussion, Rafa Benitez has accepted the offer to take on Napoli, being confident that he will be able to fulfill the expectations set by president. By bringing Rafa Benitez to the club Napoli have won not only a great coach but they also made an image blow.
De Laurentiis is about to give another shot on transfer market, as he is in talks with Mario Gomez, fresh winner of Champions League with Bayern Munich. The German striker, which also has Spanish citizenship, seems to not be included in Guardiola’s plans for the future and he wants to leave Bayern. Guardiola prefers Mandzukic but also the new acquisition Mario Gotze in attack and would agree with Gomez’s transfer.
The fact that he wants to leave has been confirmed also by several people close to the player. Gomez told them that the German Cup match against Stuttgart was the last game played for Bayern.
It is rumored that Napoli would pay €20 millions to bring the talented striker to Napoli. The 27 years old forward came at Bayern in the summer of 2009 from Stuttgart for a fee of around €30 million.
If this transfer will be done Napoli could sell Edinson Cavani, who is wanted by almost all major European teams.
Will Napoli sign Gomez?
